PRODUCT
Kohinoor Plastech manufactures high quality customized cells as per requirement. The cells meet the required tensile strength and grammage as per specifications.
Cell Fill Concrete technology has been developed by IIT Kharagpur and is used in making long lasting rural roads having low volume traffic. Such roads are expected to be maintenance free for 5-10 years. This technology is supported by the Government of India because of it’s low initial cost compared to conventional pavements.
Cell Fill Concrete pavements are also known as flexible concrete pavements which consist of cement concrete, filled and compacted inside the plastic cells placed on the prepared subbase. When this is done, the plastic cells get deformed. Each deformed cell maintains contact with adjacent cell, thus creating a network of contact which helps in load distribution over a wider area. The plastic cells can be filled with ready mix concrete (zero slump normal concrete) or by grouting the cement mortar inside the compacted coarse aggregate layer. M30 grade concrete is usually recommended for this work.
Advantages of Cell Fill Concrete Roads
- Low initial cost compared to convertional concrete pavements.
- Aggregate consumption is reduced by atleast 30 – 40%.
- Expansion & contraction joints are not required.
- Since there are no pothholes, the road is maintainence free.
- Long lasting thereby creating road assets.
- Equivalent elastic modulus of 100MM thick cast in situ blocks is equal to 136MM of high strength bituminous concrete. (Source – IIT Kharagpur).
